It's undeniable that we may find lots of eateries and restaurants that offer lots of great choices when comes to food especially when you're in central business district area.

Although the choices of food is always awaits us during lunch time, yet to find the best and satisfying meal to keep us energized for the day is definitely not an easy thing to get.

And shall you were looking for a special kind of something, perhaps you may consider one of your lunch option by having an AUTHENTIC COSTA RICAN meal with SALCHIPAPAS

Located in the hearts of Makati, this eatery just started their humble business on 9th October 2017 with a small place set up in one of the food court that is located in LEPANTO Higher Ground Food Station



If ever your mind were wondering what is salchipapas well I am glad to share that. 

Salchipapas is a cuisine which originated from Costa Rica where the owner of this eatery Samantha Balbin get this inspiration during her visit to Costa Rica as each grocery shops in the said country were selling this type of dishes to the customer. Also as Samantha, those food was also one of their signature street food as well the staple food for the costa rican people there

Unlike asian we consume rice most of the time as part of our daily needs but it's for Costa Rican it is different stories as their source of carbohydrates intake comes mostly from corn and also from potatoes which Salchipapas currently wish to share these type of staple food for both of filipinos as well as the foreigner diners to enjoy the true costa rican street food experience without passport and airplane required.



And to begin with this costa rican meal, I've managed to try their signature EMPANADAS where they have three flavors to choose from (Three Cheese, Beef & Chili Con Carne)





Here is the feedback about the empanada that I've tasted

Beef Cheese : The pulled beef was indeed delicious as the texture of the beef itself was not overcooked. Perfect for those who wish to have settle and simple taste on the empanada

Three Cheese : With the combination of three cheese which also a secret recipe created from the owner herself, this empanada surely will makes you want to ask for more especially if you are a cheese lover. Also since there is three cheese been combined, rest assured that there is no heavy smell and the taste will stick in your mouth after you had these empanada

Chili Con Carne : I am proud to say that this flavor will be my most favourite among the remaining two based on my preference as the combination of the beef with the sauce itself was combined perfectly and what I also like about this empanada is the beef texture was still remain tender although it has been mixed with sauces

What I also love about this empanada is that the dough that they used was not from the tapioca or baking flour as their dough was made from the corn flour which imported from costa rica itself which makes their empanada always stays crunchy

Beside than empanada, do also try their tacos as it's made with the same corn flour and also the tacos also were served with a generous portion of pulled beef and salads as well with their sauces been served to make it more flavorful 



And the highlight of amongst the all is definitely.... SALCHIPAPAS



The reason I am loving this dish is although it was a simple ingredient yet the quality of the fries and the sausage itself that been used was truly comes from the fresh ingredient where the owner had uses only the fresh potato and the sausage that imported from costa rica itself to make this cuisine more exquisite.

Besides than salchipapas, tacos and empanada serve in the menu, they do also offer a heavier version of costan rican street food just in case if you were wish to opt for something heavier and to fill your stomach such as their costa rican rice served with pinto beans together with the costan rican deep fried bacon (Tocinetas) 





You may also try their PERRO LOCCA sandwich (Also known as CRAZY DOG) suitable for those that wish to have a quick bite yet a heavy meal or even if you have a limited time for your break time and you wish to look for a quick alternative to solve your lunch hunger issue

Although SALCHIPAPAS are still new in the food industry, definitely I will keep going back for more of their costa rican meal and also it will be my first choice as every dish that been offered, I also managed to taste the true passion as well as the dedication that the owner puts into each dish beside than just using fresh ingredient
